ABSTRACT The aim of this explorative comparative study is to explore how bachelor students are socialized into the instructional method role‐playing in simulation‐based professional education programmes. Despite widespread use role‐play programmes, there a limited number studies on topic, even though complexities training pose several educational challenges. empirical material based eight focus group interviews with third‐year ( n = 31) from nursing nautical and biomedical laboratory science. analysis applies sociological theories cultural models for learning, emphasizing idea that culture creates shared frame reference about expected behaviour given group. This finds different education, highlighting significance routinization ritualization building whereby feel comfortable when participating activities. Our work demonstrates need more knowledge develop students' abilities together their skills training.

Abstract This study explores how and why simulation training facilitates professional learning by investigating simulators simulations are used conceptualized in two domains, nursing maritime navigation, offer a reconceptualization.
