Corrosion is an inevitable and persistent issue that affects various metallic infrastructures, leading to significant economic losses safety concerns, particularly in areas near or contact with saline solutions such as seawater. Green corrosion inhibitors are compounds derived from natural sources biodegradable environments, offering a promising alternative their conventional counterparts. Despite potential, green still face several limitations challenges when exposed NaCl environments. This comprehensive review delves into these associated challenges, shedding light on the progress made addressing issues potential future developments tools management. Explicitly following aspects covered: (1) attributes of inhibitors, (2) general mechanism, (3) mechanism inhibition NaCl, (4) typical electrochemical surface characterization techniques, (5) theoretical simulations by Density Functional Theory, (6) testing standards guidelines for inhibitor selection. expected advance knowledge promote further research applications.

This work aims to follow the corrosion behavior of copper in 3 wt% NaCl solution presence a bio-oily extract. Spent coffee grounds (SCG), highly recyclable and usable biomass - often thrown away becoming serious threat environment , has fraction oils (12%) that we have opted use as inhibitor for copper. The extraction was carried out using n-hexane solvent decoction. oily analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Potentiodynamic polarization measurements revealed SCG extract acts cathode-type saline media, mainly preventing diffusion oxygen molecules toward substrate. As concentration increased, inhibition efficiency improved well, reaching 95.78 % with 0.6 g/L obtained results electrochemical impedance (EIS) are accordance order inhibitory potentiodynamic polarization. We found adsorption process on surface is spontaneous complies Langmuir isotherm.
