Abstract Background Biometric recognition, using traits like fingerprints, faces, and irises, has advanced significantly, enabling accurate identification. Despite progress, implementation in Zambian healthcare is limited. This study explored workers’ patients' perceptions experiences regarding biometric technology settings, offering insights for informed decision-making product design. Methods phenomenological the of workers end-users (patients) concerning four facilities Lusaka Province: Chilenje, Chawama, Kanyama (first-level hospitals), Railways Urban Clinic. These were purposefully selected their active use services involvement with National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA). The included 20 16 patients. Face-to-face interviews patients, focus group discussions users, lasting 35 to 65 min, conducted. Interviews audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, coded Nvivo version 12, analyzed inductive thematic analysis.
