While persons with schizophrenia find steady employment difficult to sustain, many of the women take on most task all – motherhood. The aim this paper is review challenges motherhood in population and treatment strategies needed keep mothers children safe, protecting health fostering growth. This a narrative reflecting author’s life experience non-systematic search recent literature. Topics added are stigma against context schizophrenia, mothers’ painful choices, issues contraception, abortion, child custody, kin placement children, effects antipsychotics, specific perinatal delusional syndromes, parental supports. Recommendations work collaboratively who struggle serious mental illness, note their strengths as well failings, offer wide array family services, monitor closely for safety, appreciate these daily face.
