The coastal wetlands of the Mediterranean area are among most vulnerable and threatened environments due to human pressure activities. Fragmentation is generally considered as one driving factors in habitats loss. In this paper, we investigated floristic composition, structure, conservation status, trends habitat types sensu 92/43EEC Directive a wetland south-eastern Sicily (“Saline di Priolo” SAC). Based on 128 phytosociological surveys several plant collections, total 304 taxa, 28 communities 16 have been identified. Furthermore, three new associations were described, including two rocky coasts. For classification habitats, hierarchical clustering was performed by using Euclidean coefficient beta-flexible algorithm. life form spectrum current flora highlights dominance therophytes hemicryptophytes. species largely prevailing with 123 taxa. cartographic analysis ArcGis 10.3 shows radical reduction last 70 years, strong alteration ecological succession psammophilous-hygrophilous vegetation. Moreover, landscape configuration vegetation well highlighted set specific metrics. particular, our outcomes identify (2110, 2210, 5220* EU code) bad which priority (Zyziphus arborescent matorral), that requires urgent restoration measures.
