Biodiversity conservation is a key factor in meeting sustainable development goals. This even more important cities, where green spaces are becoming increasingly scarce. study analyzes the Kinshasa's proliferating ornamental plant nurseries, known as informal horticultural sites (IHS). The analysis focused on characterizing profile of horticulturists, their production conditions and species produced. Fifteen IHSs were sampled using "snowball" technique, 178 horticulturists surveyed. Based socio-professional five groups IHS distinguished after hierarchical classification principal components. We found that exclusively employed men, most whom new to trade, from all levels education, ranged 19 45 years old. Production relatively similar one site another. However, characterized by permanent land insecurity, use phytosanitary products, conditioning methods not very diversified calibrated growers' investment capacities, seed acquisition methods. A total 139 species, them exotic, identified. Of these, 37% phanerophytes 24% considered potentially invasive. suggest ways professionalizing activity protecting urban environment.
