Smart City has emerged as the mainstream paradigm for urban governance innovation, sustainable development, and strategy upgrades, which is drawing attention from scholars worldwide. However, current frameworks assessment remain incomplete simplistic. In paper, 30 national or provincial capitals in China were selected we designed a tri-dimensional SPI model—Social, Physical, Information Space—for smart city spatial development assessment. Utilizing methods such entropy weighting, coupled coordination degree models, Dagum Gini coefficient, this study assesses of cities 2011 to 2019. Finally, by means BP neural networks, examines contribution each indicator coordination. The results indicated that with narrowing disparity speeds among different regions, level steadily increased, presenting pattern staggered distribution. Moreover, IS subsystem plays most significant role significance research lies its perspective differences City, providing evidence-based support regional layout optimization China.
