Biochar is a porous material produced by pyrolisis of biomass and can be modified using metal oxide to improve its adsorption performance, especially toward organics substances. The activated biochar was synthesized from patchouli study effect calcination temperature on both structural properties paracetamol drug the composite studied. Some process routes were conducted, including pyrolysis CoCl2 activator, impregnation 0.1 M FeCl3 solutions, biochar-FeCl3 at various temperatures (400, 600, 800 oC) in almost closed porcelain crucible, product characterizations X-ray diffraction FTIR spectrometry, test concentrations (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 ppm). analyzed UV-Vis spectrophotometry 243 nm. data treated Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) models. diffractograms indicated α-Fe2O3, γ-Fe2O3, FeFe2O4 beside carbon turbostratic structure. peak heights increased increasing temperature. spectra significantly started change 600 oC. Adsorption gave highest capacity 56.37 mg/g oC (Langmuir model) with correlation coefficient 0.964. energy achieved oC, i.e 530.33 J/mol (physical adsorption) dimensionless factor, RL value 0.86 (favorable adsorption), n constant 1.58 adsorption).
