Introduction Cancer-related cognitive impairment is common among people diagnosed with and treated for cancer. This can be a distressing disabling side effect impacted individuals. Interventions to mitigate dysfunction are available, but, date, most have been trialled in samples that largely or exclusively composed of solid tumours. Intervention strategies support functioning needed, but there paucity research this area. The main aim study test the feasibility acceptability methods procedures intended use definitive trial web-based rehabilitation programme, Responding Cognitive Concerns (eReCog), who received chemotherapy aggressive lymphoma. Methods analysis proposed single-site, parallel-group, pilot randomised controlled trial, one baseline follow-up (or postintervention) assessment. 38 from target population low perceived function based on Change Screen will recruited specialist cancer centre between July 2023 June 2024. After assessment, participants one-to-one receive usual care only (a factsheet about changes memory thinking cancer) eReCog plus care. 4-week intervention consists four online modules offering psychoeducation associated its treatment, skills training improving memory, attention relaxation training. Study outcomes include recruitment retention at assessment (primary outcomes), as well adherence to, usability intrinsic motivation engage eReCog, compliance measures. potential efficacy also evaluated. Ethics dissemination Ethical approval was granted by Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Human Research Committee Victoria, Australia (HREC/97384/PMCC). findings disseminated via peer-reviewed publications conference presentations. Abstract Background Early diagnosis and effective treatments have favored the survival of cancer patients, but also generated adverse consequences including cognitive impairment psychological distress, which are related to both disease progression side effects pharmacological agents. However, there is little data in literature concerning such patients with lung cancer. This study protocol will investigate occurrence non-small-cell (NSCLC) small-cell (SCLC) undergoing adjuvant therapies or surgery year following enrollment. Methods longitudinal recruit around 200 (NSCLC SCLC patients). To explore profile pre- post-oncological treatment, a evaluation be administered each patient at baseline (T0), 4 (T1), 12 months (T2) after end treatments. A screening assessed Montreal Cognitive Assessment Mini-Mental State Examination. Executive functions investigated Frontal Battery, Stroop Color Word test, phonemic fluency Modified Five-point Test. Memory learning examined Rey's auditory verbal whereas working memory Digit Span test Corsi Block-tapping Finally, attention Trail Making Test Symbol Modalities In addition, perceived impairment, anxious depressive symptoms, reserve, sleep patterns, patient's quality life using self-report tools. The identified by adopting criteria proposed International Cognition Cancer Task Force (2 + scores ≤ − 1.5 SDs 1 score 2.0 SDs, from normative mean). Discussion results could relevant implications for managing its impact on patients. Through systematic assessment associated risk factors, this aims provide valuable insights into clinical practice, enhancing development neuropsychological protocols.
