Importance

A connection between Meniere disease (MD) and migraine has been proposed, but the temporal association remains unknown.

Objective

To examine bidirectional of MD with migraine.

Design, Setting, Participants

This case-control study included participants 40 years or older from Korean National Health Insurance Service Screening Cohort 2002 to 2015.

Main Outcomes Measures

total 6919 patients were matched 27 676 control without for age, sex, income, region residence, index date. The incidence was analyzed in groups using a stratified Cox proportional hazard regression model. In addition, 35 889 71 778

Results

Of 142 262 participants, 94 611 (66.5%) women. Migraine occurred 695 (10.0%) 970 (3.5%). group demonstrated 2.22-fold higher risk than (95% CI, 1.99-2.49). present 1098 (3.1%) 781 (1.1%). had 1.95-fold 1.77-2.15).

Conclusions Relevance

results this suggest that greater occurrence. Furthermore, MD. Based on association, therapeutics could potentially be applied vice versa.

Background: Public health concerns regarding the potential link between osteoporosis and increased occurrence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) Parkinson's (PD) have been raised, but results remain inconsistent require further validation. Here, we investigated long-term relationship with AD/PD using data from a large-scale nationwide cohort. Methods: This longitudinal follow-up study included 78,994 patients controls Korean National Health Insurance Service-Health Screening Cohort database (2002-2015) who were matched propensity score matching at 1:1 ratio based on age, sex, income, residential area. A Cox proportional hazard model was used to assess association after adjusting for multiple covariates. Results: During period, AD occurred in 5,856 3,761 (incidence rates: 10.4 6.8 per 1,000 person-years, respectively), PD 1,397 790 2.4 1.4 respectively). The incidences significantly higher group than control group. After adjustment, exhibited 1.27-fold 1.49-fold occurrences (95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.22-1.32) CI 1.36-1.63) controls, respectively. subgroup analyses supported osteoporosis, independent area, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, or blood glucose level. Conclusion: Our indicate that presence may increase likelihood developing two common neurodegenerative diseases adults aged ≥40 years.

An association between anemia and an increased risk of osteoporosis has been suggested. The goal this study was to estimate the hemoglobin (Hb) level with osteoporosis. A total 69,760 patients aged ≥ 40 years old from Korean National Health Insurance Service Screening Cohort were enrolled. From identical cohort database, comparison participants randomly selected. Hb levels before onset evaluated. analyzed using a conditional logistic regression model adjusted for obesity, smoking status, alcohol consumption, systolic blood pressure, diastolic fasting glucose, cholesterol, Charlson comorbidity index score. Fifteen percent group 14.17% had anemia. associated 0.98-fold lower odds (95% confidence intervals = 0.97–0.99, p < 0.001). low high in adult population. There consistent comorbidities.

Accumulating evidence suggests that hearing impairment is associated with the onset of depression. However, large-scale epidemiological studies are required to define this association more clearly. We aimed investigate risk new-onset depression in Korean older adults and without impairment. From National Health Insurance Service-Senior Cohort, which a retrospective-prospective hybrid database, we analyzed data for 254,466 enrolled Korea Cohort who underwent at least one health screening between 2003 2019. A Cox proportional hazards regression model was used evaluate incident depression, presented as adjusted hazard ratios (aHR) 95% confidence intervals (CIs). All participants were followed up until date death, or December 31, 2019.During 3,417,682 person-years follow-up investigation, higher (vs. no impairment) final (aHR, 1.11; CI, 1.01-1.21; p = 0.033).
