ABSTRACT In a world of constant change, biodiversity monitoring proves essential for the conservation native species. Many these changes are linked to introduction non‐indigenous species (NIS), which alter ecosystem structure and community dynamics directly impact New records NIS often obtained through traditional scientific surveys. However, citizen science has provided significant insights into distributions volunteer observations by individuals outside academia. Successful platforms science, such as iNaturalist, have revolutionised spatial temporal understanding biodiversity. Recently, Green Mussel ( Perna viridis ), NIS, was recorded in states Paraná, Rio de Janeiro Ceará, Brazil. Nevertheless, there were no official other along Brazilian coast. This study aimed use methods conjunction with update distribution status this Using surveys, one record P. documented municipality São Vicente, Paulo state, while 42 spanning Janeiro, Paulo, Paraná Santa Catarina. As result, our filled gap southern coast, highlighting importance Early detection is crucial successful management, emphasising utility using non‐traditional biological invasion studies.
