Background Digital payment systems are pivotal in the digital economy, relying on interplay between internet technology and e-vendors. While Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) have been extensively used to explain adoption, role trust financial adoption remains underexplored. This study addresses this gap by developing an extended Trust-TAM-TPB model, providing a comprehensive framework analyze emerging markets. Methods A quantitative approach was adopted, analyzing survey data from 509 respondents using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The model examines both technological factors (perceived usefulness, perceived ease use) trust-related (trust’s influence behavioral intention via subjective norms, attitude, control). Results Findings confirm that is significant determinant influencing usefulness norms. However, negative relationship found (PU) attitude (ATT), suggesting while users recognize benefits payments, their attitudes may still be shaped traditional cash-based habits security concerns. These insights challenge TAM assumptions emphasize importance driving adoption. Conclusions contributes acceptance literature integrating into TAM-TPB highlighting its dual shaping intention. Practically, findings suggest policymakers institutions should prioritize trust-building strategies, including fraud prevention measures, literacy programs, transparent transaction policies, accelerate economies. particularly relevant for Vietnam’s Northern mountainous regions, where penetration low.

Background Digital payment systems are pivotal in the digital economy, relying on interplay between internet technology and e-vendors. This study seeks to explore acceptance behaviors regarding payments by employing an extended version of Trust Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) incorporating Theory Planned Behavior (TPB). Methods We conducted a qualitative analysis using interview data from 509 respondents applied Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) evaluate relationships key variables. The model allows for comprehensive examination both technological trust-related factors influencing adoption. Results Our revealed that all standardized path coefficients were positively significant, except perceived usefulness (PU) attitude (ATT). findings confirm while primarily driven Internet communication technologies, addressing issues is essential enhancing user TAM identifies ease use, alongside trust, as critical affecting behavioral intention. In TPB framework, trust significantly impacts adoption through mediators such attitude, control, subjective norm. Conclusions enhances our understanding adoption, emphasizing need address issues. insights gained provide valuable recommendations increasing use systems, particularly Northern mountainous regions Vietnam, thereby fostering greater financial inclusion economic growth.
