Systematic evidence syntheses (systematic reviews and maps) summarize knowledge are used to support decisions policies in a variety of applied fields, from medicine public health biodiversity conservation. However, conducting these exercises conservation is often expensive slow, which can impede their use hamper progress addressing the crisis. With explosive growth large language models (LLM) other forms artificial intelligence (AI), we discuss promise perils associated with use. We conclude that, when judiciously used, AI has potential speed up hopefully improve process synthesis, be particularly useful for underfunded fields such as science.
