Abstract This study investigated the engagement of Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs) with Generative AI (GAI) tools in their research projects, focusing on awareness, source usage pattern based gender, and views GAI academic research. We adopted a descriptive survey method to collect data from one hundred four PSTs across five institutions Ghana using five-point Likert-type instrument, which included an open-ended question for collection. The quantitative were analyzed means, frequencies, percentages, standard deviations, independent samples t-test. findings revealed that are familiar tools, especially ChatGPT Google Bard. They learned about these through personal searches, recommendations friends, social media platforms. used writing all chapters theIntroduction Chapterbeing most common area application, followed by theDiscussion Findings Chapter, theLiterature Review Chapter,Methodology, andSummary Conclusion. also identified significant gender disparity use male exhibiting higher frequency compared female counterparts. Nonetheless, both genders expressed positive attitude towards research, noting among other benefits provided them confidence independence writing. However, they recognized inaccuracies information led skepticism relying solely projects. Consequently, preference support supervisors, highlighting importance balanced approach combines human supervision Therefore, we recommend integrating into teacher education programs. this integration should be complemented comprehensive guidance how can effectively conduct original advanced

This study presents findings from a professional development (PD) webinar aimed at sensitizing and gathering teacher educators’ knowledge of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI). The primary objective the was to deepen understanding applications GAI within context education in Ghana identify areas requiring additional development. Three hundred seven participants diverse group, including educators, administrators, in-service teachers participated PD session. session conducted online via Zoom. video audio recordings were transcribed analyzed thematically using MAXQDA version 2022.4. Findings indicate range familiarity with among participants. While some expressed tools, others learning about for first time. Further, showed an increasing curiosity inspiring functions education, such as automatic scoring, academic writing, assisting image generation their classroom practices, etc. demonstrated willingness include practices support students. However, they also identified infrastructural gaps, expense premium training on promptings, ethical issues transparency, potential barriers successful implementation education. Therefore, suggests that institutional should be provided educators. would expand access various tools features. further recommends integrating GAI, explainable prompt engineering, core component continuous programs. Additionally, it emphasizes importance strengthening educators' skills innovative assessment practices.
