Abstract The adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools is drastically changing the way that researchers work. While debate on quality GenAI outputs continues, there optimism may help human experts to address most significant environmental challenges facing society. No previous research has quantitatively assessed intended inform management decisions. Here we surveyed 98 scientists and used their expertise assess content relevant discipline. We analysed relative preference between across three use cases in science outreach communication. Our results indicate was generally deemed adequate by experts, with an average 82% respondents indicating a “adequate” or better cases. Respondents exhibited strong preferences for over human-only when using imageery future park scenarios. For generating wetland planting guide answering question about invasive species management, were heterogeneous amongst respondents. findings raise substantive questions as complement transferred public audiences.
