Abstract Purpose: This study aims to discuss the impacts of using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in education and research business management field, a virtue ethics lens reflect on technology’s effects people. Originality/value: Our analysis considers potential risks opportunities GenAI, particularly ChatGPT. We categorized AI into groups by mapping agent-centered or action-centered articles sorting them ethical perspective they come from (deontology, utilitarianism, ethics), keeping mind that addresses mainly utilitarian rules principles. emphasizes human element avoid oversimplifying people’s formation. Design/methodology/approach: conducted semi-systematic review recent literature GenAI research. used PRISMA method collect select three academic databases: Scopus, Science Direct, Web Science, addition Google Scholar. From 45 articles, we mapped main issues: level, perspective, impacts. Findings: point out GenIA for student learning researcher training virtues character is incipient, while issues are mentioned implicitly superficially. can enhance reduce development research, depending its appropriate use processes. A solid grounding essential deeply understanding impact human-AI relationships.
