Energy Entrepreneurship in the Emerging New Globalization: A Macro–Meso–Micro Perspective with Evidence from a Less-Developed Regional Ecosystem DOI Creative Commons

This study aims to analyze the shifting focus and emerging themes in contemporary energy entrepreneurship research, alongside challenges opportunities faced by select entrepreneurs a rapidly transforming global landscape that is driven sustainability imperatives, resilience, systemic transitions. Employing semi-systematic critical literature review, 238 relevant scientific articles from Web of Science database were identified analyzed. We then conducted focused case studies less-developed regional ecosystem. The findings reveal two distinct “generations” marked clear shift towards themes, innovative business models, corporate responsibility. Additionally, we introduce “Energy Innovation Scorecard” (EN.I.SCORE) framework—a comprehensive macro–meso–micro guideline designed support entrepreneurs. Applying this framework sample 89 surveyed 8 interviewed firms reveals that, especially among microfirms, there weak integration strategy–technology–management, limited innovation, poor financial performance prevail—challenges typical underdeveloped ecosystems. By examining origins, evolution, holistic transformation entrepreneurship, investigating selected case, research potentially helps bridge gaps understanding dynamics field.
