Objective We aimed to investigate the incidence of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in three geographic regions Norway and whether potential regional differences are explained by environmental or genetic factors across regions. Methods conducted a register‐based cohort study including all Norwegian children born from 2004 2019, with follow‐up throughout 2020. The JIA diagnosis, defined at least two International Classification Diseases, Tenth Revision codes for JIA, was validated against medical records. rate (IR) hazard ratio (HR) were estimated North, Mid, South In subsample Mother, Father, Child Cohort Study (MoBa), risk assessed Results After median 9.1 (range 0.3–16.0) years follow‐up, we identified 1,184 patients 910,058 controls. IR JIA/100,000 person‐years 14.4 Norway, 25.9 North region, 17.9 Mid 12.5 region. HR (95% confidence interval [CI]) region 2.07 (1.77–2.43) 1.43 CI 1.23–1.67) compared Adjustments perinatal factors, socioeconomic status, early antibiotic exposure did not change our estimates substantially. MoBa (238 57,392 controls), association between birth no longer significant when adjusting factors. Conclusion found higher increasing latitude without evidence available explaining observed gradient. contrast, modified association, but further studies warranted.

Only about 30% of conceptions end in live births, yet there are little data on paternal causes pregnancy loss. Men with inflammatory bowel disease may have multiple disease-related issues that affect fertility. We aimed to examine outcomes women undergoing assisted reproduction whose male partners had Crohn's or ulcerative colitis.

INTRODUCTION: Up to 15% of women with Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC) undergo bowel surgery before pregnancy, and there is little data on pregnancy outcomes in this population. Drug repurposing, utilizing electronic healthcare records (EHRs), offers a promising alternative by repurposing existing drugs for new therapeutic indications, especially patients lacking effective therapies. Intestinal fibrosis, severe complication of Crohn's disease (CD), poses significant challenges, increasing morbidity and mortality without available pharmacological treatments. This article focuses on identifying medications associated with an elevated or reduced risk fibrosis in CD through population-wide real-world data artificial intelligence (AI) approach.

Summary Background The risk of chronic opioid use after surgery for Crohn's disease (CD) is not known. Aim aim this study to examine the according age at time and prior surgery. Methods This nationwide cohort included patients with a first CD (January 1, 1996 through 2021). We examined prescribed opioids 9 months estimated adjusted odds ratios (OR) in elderly (≥60 years), adults (≥40 <60 young (≥18 <40 years) Chronic was defined as prescriptions least two three consecutive quarters. Results A total 797 had elderly, 1603 adults, 2786 adults. Across all groups, 18%–38% received throughout surgery, if were If corresponding proportions 2%–5%. (≥1) ORs (95% CIs) their 10.37 (6.77–15.88), 10.48 (7.74–14.19), 6.55 (4.93–8.72), respectively. Conclusion Clinicians should be aware that need before may change opioids. Future research effective analgesic strategies help minimise population.

Abstract Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with depression and anxiety in adults, but data scarce on risk of psychiatric diseases children IBD. We aimed to estimate the anxiety, depression, or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder patients pediatric-onset Methods: performed a nationwide, register-based cohort study including all IBD diagnosed Denmark period 1998-2018, resulting 3,559 matched 1:5 age, sex, municipality residence, time period, 17,795 reference individuals. used Cox regression calculate hazard ratios for each outcome following diagnosis Results: Patients had an increased (hazard ratio [HR] 1.50, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.26-1.80) using antidepressants (HR 1.54, CI 1.39-1.71), surprisingly reduced methylphenidate 0.75, 0.58-0.98). both subtypes (Crohn’s [CD] ulcerative colitis [UC]) developing which was particularly high CD 1.73, 1.35-2.22). UC 0.63, 0.43-0.93) – though not statistically significant being ADHD compared background population. Discussion: have 50% important health care providers be aware manage. Remarkably, we found receiving ADHD, merits further investigation.

Use of traditional opioids (TOs) for pain management has been associated with adverse outcomes among patients inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). It is unknown if similar associations exist tramadol, a partial opioid agonist and serotonin norephinephrine reuptake inhibitor. We sought to compare tramadol vs TOs in an IBD population.
