Pediatric metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is common and can be seen as early in utero. A growing body of literature suggests that gestational life exposures modify the risk MASLD development children. These include maternal factors, such poor cardiometabolic health (e.g., obesity, diabetes, rapid weight gain during pregnancy, MASLD), well periconceptional dietary exposures, degree physical activity, intestinal microbiome, smoking. Paternal diet also appear to play a role. Beyond gestation, rate infant gain, may further future development. The mechanisms linking parental environmental pediatric are complex not entirely understood. In conclusion, investigating developmental contributors critical identify interventional targets for prevention.
