Abstract
Background
Globally,
2–14%
of
women
experience
intimate
partner
violence
(IPV)
during
pregnancy.
Timely
response
to
IPV
is
critical
mitigate
related
adverse
health
outcomes.
Barriers
accessing
limited
support
services
are
pervasive
in
low-
and
middle-income
countries
(LMICs),
such
as
Ethiopia;
key
barriers
include
mistrust,
stigmatization,
self-blame,

Methods
In-depth
qualitative

seeking
challenges

resource

persistent
survivors.
Notably,
few
discussed
they
unique
pregnancy,
most
referring
over
an
extended
period,
both
prior
restrictions.
The
majority
our
study
heavily
relied
informal
network
family
friends
protection
assistance
resolving
violence.
Though
formal
remained
open
throughout
pandemic,
restrictions
resulted
perception
that
not
available,
this
discouraged
help.
Survivors
lack
integrated
tailored
enduring
needs.
Conclusions
reveal
low
awareness
utilization
urge
future
policy
efforts
address
through
expansion
by
reducing
socio-cultural
barriers.

Globally,
intimate
partner
violence
(IPV)
is
highly
prevalent,
with
adolescents
being
particularly
vulnerable,

examines

prevalence
and
severity
of
physical
IPV
among
pregnant
in
sub-Saharan
Africa
(SSA).
We
analyzed
data
from
Demographic
Health
Surveys
collected
between
2017-2021
eight
SSA
countries,
involving
2,289
ever-pregnant
aged
15-19.
Physical
pregnancy
was
defined
as
experiencing
harm
while
by
a
husband,
former
partner,

boyfriend,
or
