Soil salinity is a serious problem facing many countries globally, especially those with semi-arid and arid climates. can have negative influences on soil microbial activity as well chemical physical processes, all of which are crucial for health, fertility, productivity. negatively affect physiological, biochemical, genetic attributes cultivated plants well. Plants wide variety responses to stress classified sensitive (e.g., carrot strawberry), moderately (grapevine), tolerant (wheat) (barley date palm) depending the salt content required cause crop production problems. Salinity mitigation represents critical global agricultural issue. This review highlights properties classification salt-affected soils, plant damage from osmotic due salinity, possible approaches (i.e., applied nutrients, inoculations, organic amendments, physio-chemical approaches, biological nano-management), research gaps that important future food security. The strong relationship between different subdisciplines (mainly, biogeochemistry, microbiology, fertility nutrition) also discussed.

Industrial waste significantly impacts water and soil quality, restricting their suitability for agricultural domestic use. This study investigates the distribution of heavy metals (HMs) in groundwater soils across Shazand plain under different irrigation methods rainfed farming systems. It evaluates Total Hazard Quotient (THQ) Carcinogenic Risk (TCR) associated with HMs both children adults, considering exposure through ingestion, dermal contact, inhalation. A total 104 samples were collected, comprising from wells boreholes, samples. Concentrations Pb, Cd, Cr, Ni, Hg, Zn, Cu analyzed using atomic absorption spectrometry, data assessed descriptive inferential statistics. The highest average concentrations observed Cr (19 µg l−1) Zn (22.8 l−1). In samples, (35.28 g−1) (216.52 exhibited values. Index (HI) indicated a high risk age groups, ranging moderate to very areas. Soil Pollution Load (PLI) was 18.22 71.17 irrigated farming, indicating severe HM contamination site. health risks exceeded acceptable levels, showing greater vulnerability compared adults. research underscores urgent need effective environmental management strategies mitigate contamination, safeguard public health, ensure sustainable practices industrialized regions.

Introduction: Agricultural practices significantly influence soil microbial populations and physicochemical properties, which are crucial for crop growth quality. This study aims to investigate the impact of different agrochemical applications on dynamics, as well yield proximate properties maize. Methods: Carefully gathered topsoil samples at depths ranging from 1 15 cm, were transported Jimma University cultivate Over a period up 120 days, maize collected specified days analyze various parameters, including pH, populations, nutrient content both in plants. The data was statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA, with significance level p < 0.05. Results: bacterial fungal measured 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 120. highest total mesophilic count (TMBC) pots containing compost (G) lowest that received macronutrient fertilizers glyphosates (B) (i.e. 91.8 x 105 13.13 cfu/g soil, respectively). (TMFC) observed (F) 67.25 104 soil) again pot treated glyphosate 3.23 soil). Moreover, (B), (A), micronutrient (C) exhibited levels Fe Zn. Furthermore, receiving fertilizer combined those (A) alone had concentrations Mn Cu micronutrients. Finally, protein, fats, carbohydrates (g/100g) found (B, 2.21 ± 0.2), (C, 8.57 0.25), only (D, 57.34 0.1). Maize showed Fe, Cu, Zn, while resulted these Additionally, concentration Mn, whereas (D) lowest. Conclusions: Significant variations soil’s levels, nutritional composition observed, indicating treatment-related changes. Generally, treatment micromineral seemed deplete improved. Compost-treated soils count, Zn concentrations. use agrochemicals also negative effect fluctuations parameters underscore multifaceted effects treatments.
