Abstract
Computational
hydrological
models
and
simulations
are
fundamental
pieces
of
the
workflow
contemporary
hydroscience
research,
education,
professional
engineering
activities.
In
support
modelling
efforts,
web-enabled
tools
for
data
processing,
storage,
computation,
visualization
have
proliferated.
Most
these
efforts
rely
on
server
resources
computation
tasks
client-side
visualization.
However,
continued
advancements
in-browser,
compute
performance
present
an
opportunity
to
further
leverage
resources.
Towards
this
end,
we
operational
rainfall-runoff
model
simulation
engine
running
entirely
client
side
using
JavaScript
programming
language.
To
demonstrate
potential
uses,
also
easy-to-use
in-browser
interface
designed
education.
Although
use
case
presented
here
is
self-contained,
core
technologies
can
extend
multi-core
processing
single
machines
parallelization
capabilities
multiple
clients
or
JavaScript-enabled
servers.
These
possibilities
suggest
that
