Amid the push for green transformation and industrial upgrades, how heavily polluting enterprises achieve transition has become a focal point government society. In response to policy demands, these often pursue mergers as means of transformation, though under varying conditions, they may opt either or greenwashing, raising questions about their motivations. Based on evolutionary game theory, this paper constructs four-party model involving media, government, public, analyze strategy stability. Using Lyapunov’s first law, examine stability equilibrium points, investigating factors like media transparency, regulatory strength, public discernment affect corporate decisions. The findings show that: 1) are significantly influenced by authenticity, oversight, discernment; 2) supervision play crucial roles in curbing greenwashing. insights, we propose strengthening supervision, optimizing policies, enhancing environmental awareness promote mergers.

Utilizing Fourier autoregressive distributed lag and Toda–Yamamoto causality methodologies, this research assesses the effects that renewable energy consumption environmental policy had on economic sustainability of China from 1991 to 2022. Our findings highlight positive impacts use stringent policies China’s growth, while also pinpointing supportive roles played by foreign direct investment, trade openness, financial sector evolution in fostering a sustainable environment. Conversely, reliance fossil fuels emerges as significant barrier sustainability. Causality tests confirm essential advancing This study underscores critical need for integrating strategies within development framework, advocating holistic approach balances growth with conservation. imperative sustainability-centered strategy advancement.
