BACKGROUND People with severe-to-profound intellectual disability and sensory-motor impairment tend to be passive detached from their immediate context. OBJECTIVE This study assessed a new technology system using webcam detect participants’ responses (ie, hand contact objects) trigger computer delivery of preferred environmental stimulation, such as music, contingent on (immediately after) the occurrence those responses. METHODS In total, 8 adults severe profound extensive motor visual impairments participated in study. Each participant was exposed an ABACB design. The did not provide stimulation during A (baseline) phases, provided B (intervention) throughout sessions C (control) phase. Sessions lasted 5 minutes. RESULTS During first baseline phase, mean frequency per session between about 3 6.5. intervention it increased 10 18. It showed clear decline second remained low control again this ranged 13 19.5. CONCLUSIONS might useful tool help people disabilities increase object control.
