Polarimetric measurement has been proven to be of great importance in various applications, including remote sensing agriculture and forest. full waveform LiDAR is a relatively new yet valuable active tool. This instrument offers the data polarimetric information simultaneously. Current studies have primarily used commercial non-polarimetric for tree species classification, either at dominant level or individual level. Many classification approaches combine multiple features, such as height, stand width, crown shape, without utilizing information. In this work, customized Multiwavelength Airborne (MAPL) system was developed field measurements. The MAPL unique with unparalleled capabilities vegetation sensing. It features four receiving channels dual wavelengths polarization: near infrared (NIR) co-polarization, NIR cross-polarization, green (GN) GN respectively. Data were collected from several species, coniferous trees (blue spruce, ponderosa pine, Austrian pine) deciduous (ash maple). goal improve target identification ability detection accuracy. A machine learning (ML) approach, specifically decision tree, classify based on peak reflectance values waveforms. results indicate re-substitution error 3.23% k-fold loss 5.03% 2106 samples study. method proved both accurate effective, observation can performed using previously trained suggested by values. Future research will focus incorporating additional exploring more advanced ML methods, expanding other applications. Furthermore, fused sensors provide augmented reality Simultaneous Localization Mapping (SLAM) Bird’s Eye View (BEV). Its capability enable characterization beyond shape distance.
