Engaging with music has been shown to have a positive impact on the quality of life residents in care homes, who are known be affected by anxiety, depression and loneliness. Based benefits in-person singing activities, new Virtual Reality (VR) choir application was developed facilitate group singing, aiming improve residents’ wellbeing sense community. Co-designed Alzheimer Scotland, intervention tested two homes for functionality develop an approach towards assessing feasibility. Residents participated scheduled sessions over five-week period, addition staff engaging independent ad hoc use experience residents. Data reactions intervention, participants preferences about outcome instruments were collected. The VR proved technically successful, user-friendly, allowed multiple users sing together. Participants showed strong enthusiasm actively movement, although some found headsets uncomfortable. INTRODUÇÃO: A realidade virtual (RV) é uma tecnologia interativa com aplicações promissoras na saúde mental de idosos. No entanto, tal tema subexplorado literatura científica, o que justificou a realização desta revisão escopo para mapear as evidências disponíveis, abordagens utilizadas e lacunas orientarão futuras pesquisas. METODOLOGIA: construção da presente usou checklist PRISMA-ScR recomendações metodológicas Mattos, Cestari Moreira (2023), compreendendo 5 etapas: 1) Formulação pergunta pesquisa seguindo acrônimo PCC (População, Conceito Contexto); 2) Escolha das bases dados estratégias busca; 3) Exportação dos estudos recuperados Rayyan aplicação critérios elegibilidade; 4) Seleção independente cega artigos por dois revisores; 5) tabela, sintetizando encontradas estabelecimento categorias investigação. RESULTADO: Observaram-se 29 investigaram relação entre uso aparelhos RV Por conseguinte, os foram categorizados em seis grupos: dispositivos empregados; contexto realidades virtuais; eficácia intervenções virtual; viabilidade tolerância do pelos participantes; percepção participantes sobre intervenção; 6) instrumentos coleta utilizados. DISCUSSÃO: O trabalho, convergindo previamente publicada, demonstra RV, destacadamente através Head Mounted Displays, pode melhorar humor, reduzir depressão promover interação social pacientes CONCLUSÃO: Observou-se potencial ferramenta terapêutica idosos, sendo bem aceita este público. Abstract As global populations age, the wellbeing of older adults becomes increasingly critical, particularly amidst loneliness epidemic and COVID-19-induced social isolation. Aged care residents are especially vulnerable to isolation, which associated with increased risks anxiety, depression, dementia, ultimately leading a diminished quality life. This study explores observed effect virtual reality (VR) experiences on daily lives aged residents, including those mild cognitive impairment. Conducted across two residential facilities in regional Victoria, Australia, involved 34 before, during, after VR sessions using Maastricht Electronic Daily Life Observation tool (MEDLO-tool). The featured guided travel designed for adults. Results demonstrated significant increases residents' engagement physical activity levels, rising from baseline during experience remaining elevated post-VR. Physical effort also substantially, 92.9% previously inactive exerting session. Emotional improvements were evident, mood reduced signs agitation. Facilitated by lifestyle officers, interactions became more frequent post-VR, 83.6% socially engaging conversations experience. Abstract Background Virtual reality (VR) group activities can act as interventions against inactivity and lack of meaningful in nursing homes. The acceptance VR among older adults has been explored from different perspectives. However, research on the impact adults’ individual characteristics homes is necessary.
