BACKGROUND Cyberchondria is the compulsive searching for health information online that continues despite harmful effects. It leads to increased anxiety and lower health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Older adults face higher risks cyberchondria due their limited digital literacy skills more frequent concerns. However, researchers have not thoroughly studied how affects this age group. OBJECTIVE This study aimed explore in older population investigate its relationship with cognitive fusion (ie, tendency become entangled thoughts perceive them as literal truths dictate behavior), HRQOL, mental well-being. METHODS A web-based, cross-sectional survey was conducted May 2024 a sample 638 participants from China aged ≥60 years recruited through panel company. The completed questionnaires assessing (using Severity Scale-12 [CSS-12]), fusion, Structural equation modeling (SEM) used assess hypothesized mediation model, standardized estimates 95% CIs were calculated all structural paths. RESULTS Participants had mean CSS-12 score 40 (SD 8.5), suggesting fairly high level sample. socioeconomic status tended report levels cyberchondria. SEM showed positively associated (β=0.505, P<.001 both models) negatively HRQOL (β=–0.221, P<.001) well-being (β=–0.212, P<.001). model good fit demonstrated fully mediated total effect on CONCLUSIONS may be prominent Chinese adults, especially those residing rural areas status. Introduction: This study developed a moderate mediation model to investigate the associations among attention negative information, lifestyle behavior, social support, and cyberchondria (CYB). Methods: A cross-sectional web-based survey was conducted in May 2024, with participants recruited from online panel of company. Questionnaires assessing CYB severity, health support were administered ( n = 1821; mean age 33.2 ± 8.0 years; 48.7% women). Structural equation modeling analysis using maximum likelihood estimation method used assess hypothesized model. Standardized β ) estimates, along their 95% confidence intervals (CIs), calculated for all structural paths. Results: Mediation showed that direct effect information on levels significant 0.280, CI: 0.242, 0.318). The indirect CYB, mediated by good also −0.047, −0.061, −0.032). Social demonstrated significantly moderating behavior =0.043, 0.001, 0.085). Conclusion: provides empirical evidence focusing affects CYB. focus can reinforce fears concerns about illness through Internet, leading excessive worry reassurance-seeking behaviors. Healthcare providers should prioritize interventions promote healthy behaviors reduce
