Unidentified Aerial/Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) have become a serious research topic in the last years. Beyond current efforts of U. S. government agencies, NASA, and several institutions, data on UAP been collected for many decades private organizations world-wide. However, status work Germany particular is little known internationally. This paper presents state knowledge lists key issues regarding UAP. Using example largest organization Germany, “Gesellschaft zur Erforschung des UFO-Phänomens – GEP e.V.” (Society Study UFO Phenomenon), this describes how lay or citizen science can contribute to addressing these issues. Conducting individual case studies collection, requirements-driven management theoretical development basic definitions “UAP” as well “anomalies” “strangeness” are identified core factors progress research, which increased international cooperation between all institutions involved will be required future.
