We provide a systematic method for nonlinear entanglement detection based on trace polynomial inequalities. In particular, this allows to employ multi-partite witnesses the of bipartite states, and vice versa. identify which linear an entangled state fails, but succeeds. With formulation great variety arise from immamant inequalities, can be implemented in laboratory through randomized measurements.

Quantum resource theories (QRTs) provide a unified framework to analyze quantum properties as resources for achieving advantages in information processing. The generalized robustness and the weight of have been gaining increasing attention useful quantifiers. However, existing analyses these measures were restricted cases where convexity set free states is assumed, physically motivated do not necessarily satisfy this restriction. In paper, we give characterizations robustness- weight-based general QRTs without restriction through two different yet related approaches. On one hand, characterize by introducing nonlinear witness. We show construction new witness observables that detect resourcefulness given state from multiple copies and, using witnesses, operational interpretations above even any assumption. other find can also be interpreted worst-case maximum advantage variants channel-discrimination channel-exclusion tasks, respectively, consists several convex subsets corresponding restrictions. further extend results channels instruments. These every exhibits an Thus, establish usefulness robustness-based techniques beyond conventional scope QRTs, leading better understanding structure QRTs.

Abstract In chapter 12 we give an overview of the historical development hidden-variable theories aiming to attribute ‘hidden’ definite outcomes any potential measurement on a quantum system. We start with discussion von Neumann’s assumption models, which was later realized not hold by Hermann, Kochen, Specker, and Bell, going into detail Bell’s refutation arguments. then turn notion contextuality, severely restricts models: discuss Gleason’s theorem before stating proving famous Kochen-Specker theorem, as well simpler versions Peres’ nonet Mermin’s pentagram. These results show that mechanics is compatible assignment all possible measurements, such assignments can hence only be made once restricted set observables, context, selected
