To facilitate the quantification of stratospheric aerosol radiative effect, this study generates a set direct effect (ADRE) kernels based on MERRA-2 reanalysis data. These measure sensitivities ADRE to perturbations in scattering and absorbing optical depth (AOD), respectively. Both broadband band-by-band are developed account for wavelength dependency ADRE.
