Purpose In the digital transformation era, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in India face both opportunities challenges adopting Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies. To ensure successful I4.0 implementation, study aims to develop a readiness assessment model based on stakeholders’ perceptions. Design/methodology/approach This research adopts mixed-method framework comprehensive maturity assess of SMEs. The uses systematic literature review comprehend solution dimensions, followed by empirical validation dimensions through questionnaire survey hypothesis formulation. Findings is applied companies working four SME sectors, namely, automobile, machinery equipment, pharmaceutical agriculture. findings highlight necessity for sector-specific strategies enhance capabilities, addressing unique leveraging growth.
