The concept of food and medicine homology (FMH) is deeply embedded in traditional Chinese carries historical importance. recent rigorous definition FMH pertains to substances that exhibit both pharmacological nutritional functions, have active ingredients are fundamentally non-toxic appropriate for extended consumption. With the progression modern biotechnology, application this treating diseases has markedly expanded, its intrinsic mechanisms been examined detail. use cancer therapy, as either a primary treatment or an adjuvant paved way low-toxicity treatments. This commentary examines theoretical underpinnings, potential advantages, practical applications prevention, treatment, support enhancement. Advantages including low toxicity, long-term edibility, minimal adverse effects, high patient compliance discussed. Moreover, owing multicomponent multitarget characteristics, may provide novel opportunities therapy. Given lethality associated ethical implications, current research should prioritize fundamental studies investigating Concurrently, preliminary preclinical would be establish solid foundation subsequent clinical trials.

Emodin has shown certain anti-rheumatoid arthritis (RA) activity in preliminary studies. However, the precise mechanisms of emodin's anti-RA effects, particularly its direct targets, remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate emodin and elucidate potential mechanisms, with a specific focus on identifying molecular targets. Employing collagen-induced (CIA) rat model, along transcriptomic analysis, thermal proteome profiling (TPP) TNF-α-induced L929 cell was confirmed, TNF-α as target. Techniques such drug affinity responsive target stability (DARTS), cellular shift assay (CETSA), Affinity ultrafiltration-liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (AUF-LC/MS), surface plasmon resonance (SPR) bio-layer interferometry (BLI) validated binding TNF-α. Molecular dynamics simulation, ELISA BLI further revealed that stabilizes asymmetric trimeric structure TNF-α, disrupting TNF-α-TNFR1 interaction. In vitro assays, including luciferase reporter gene MH7A demonstrated this disruption inhibits NF-κB activation, leading downregulation inflammatory mediators IL-6, IL-1β, COX2. conclusion, directly targets stabilizing blocking interaction, which subsequently suppresses downstream pathway activation contributes potent properties.

Chicken with Armillaria mellea prepared via pressure cooking is a traditional Chinese delicacy great potential for food development. Optimizing its time crucial. In this study, chicken and were pressure-cooked different amounts of (20 min, 25 30 35 40 min). total, 101 81 volatile compounds identified by GC-MS GC-IMS, respectively. The results showed that the content was highest at min. Nonanal, decanal, (E,E)-2,4-nonadienal, (E,E)-2,4-decadienal, 1-octen-3-ol as most critical aroma time, which brought unique fat, oil, mushroom to during pressure-cooking process. optimal determined be min through sensory properties. summary, 35–40 Our research not only preliminarily conditions industrial processing dish cooking, laying foundation later production dishes international sales, but also stimulated innovative composite development promoted people’s exploration mechanism heat treatment on flavor taste.

Under the guidance of a bioactivity-guided approach and HSQC characteristic signals, nine pairs phthalic dimers, angesilides A-I (1-9), with complex polycyclic skeletons featuring bridged, fused, spiro ring systems were discovered from rhizomes Angelica sinensis. Their structures absolute configurations established by comprehensive spectroscopic methods, X-ray diffraction analysis, chiral separation. Plausible biosynthetic pathway for 1-9 was proposed. Moreover, anti-inflammatory activities all isolates evaluated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated mouse leukemia cells monocyte macrophages (RAW = 264.7). Among them, compound 9 showed remarkable inhibitory activity IC50 values 425 nM could significantly decrease IL-1β IL-6 transcription levels. Interestingly, (+)-9 has superior NO compared to that (-)-9, which verified further molecular docking analysis. The findings provide new insights into A. sinensis as functional food or development drug candidates.
