ABSTRACT The brain clock located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of hypothalamus receives direct retinal input, thereby providing entire body with an internal representation external solar time. pathways by which this small signals so broadly involve co‐occurring nervous and diffusible output signals, although latter are less understood. Portal pathways, such as well‐known pituitary portal pathway, provide a mechanism, whereby neural origin can reach local, specialized targets without suffering dilution systemic blood supply. Newly discovered vascular connections between each sensory circumventricular nuclei at its point attachment to brain.
