Abstract The increasing environmental concerns over wastewater contamination have spurred significant interest in developing efficient and sustainable methods for treatment. In this study, a simple user-friendly approach was employed to synthesize iron oxide nanoparticles (IO-NPs) using Musa acuminata peel extract as reducing stabilizing agent. synthesized IO-NPs were thoroughly characterized transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible energy-dispersive thermogravimetric analysis investigate their structural, morphological, compositional, optical properties. crystallite size determined be 38.42 nm, while the particle nearly double, at 65.22 nm. further evaluated photocatalytic efficacy degrading methyl orange (MO) rhodamine 6G (R-6G), two common organic dye pollutants. highest degradation efficiency of 99.42% achieved R-6G, MO showed 79.87% within 160 min. Photocatalytic experiments conducted under varying conditions catalyst dosage, initial concentration, solution pH optimize process. recycling potential also examined by performing process five cycles, demonstrating reusability
