Abstract The development of artificial intelligence has presented new opportunities and challenges for language education. Using techniques such as automatic speech recognition generative intelligence, conversational chatbots have been integrated into learning teaching. However, findings the impact on second and/or foreign (L2) are mixed. Therefore, this research conducted a meta‐analysis to synthesize existing research. Thirty‐one studies with 41 effect sizes were included in meta‐analysis. It was found that medium L2 ( g = 0.608, Z 6.77, p < 0.001). Moderating analysis further showed effects moderated by mobility access chatbot, modality whether or not AI technology involved, nature comparison groups design. suggest general positive learning. results enhance advantages chatbots, their accessibility, adaptability need be considered. Furthermore, more refined perspective is needed when discussing benefits use process.

We call for a reconceptualization this based on two factors: unique social interactivity need effective instruction how to use Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) tools outside classroom. argue that must master integrate these different modes teaching learning. Interpersonal exchanges class respond real-time human interaction relatedness learning so cannot, should not, be wholly replaced by chatbots. Rather, sorts form cornerstone on-campus pedagogy. In contrast, teachers also able leverage benefits learner-facing tools, especially classroom, given gains associated with them. provide detailed examples dual approach can realized propose five-step incorporating into

Communicative competence has a significant impact on the successful integration of modern specialist into professional environment, so its development is one priority tasks educational institutions. At current stage technological development, AI tools based neural network models have considerable potential to cope with this task, but for most effective realization potential, it necessary create methodology their application. This study contributes application technologies in process order improve quality training specialists. The scientific novelty work consists comprehensive analysis effectiveness applying main components communicative and types speech activity, taking account specific characteristics students. following methods were used research: content publications, technical specifications applications, reviews experts users software products; pedagogical observation (evaluating how students process); online survey (questionnaire) identify attitude towards capabilities collect information experience using networks competence. research may be interest university teachers researchers dealing tools. results can teaching foreign languages at universities as well programs assessment relevant disciplines.
