The genus Vishniacozyma, globally distributed, encompasses numerous epiphytic and endophytic species. In this study, five new species are proposed to accommodate eleven yeast strains isolated from leaves of different plants: V.diospyri sp. nov. (holotype CICC 33574T), V.guiyangensis 33569T), V.pingtangensis 33596T), V.eriobotryae GDMCC 2.312T), V.tianchiensis 33617T) using phenotypic phylogenetic characters. Phylogenetic analysis was based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region D1/D2 domain large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene. Illustrations descriptions these taxa provided, along with comparative analyses closely related within genus. This research highlights considerable diversity Vishniacozyma in China contributes valuable data for future investigations fungal systematics evolution.

Yeasts are an important component of the microbiome in circumpolar regions that characterized by unique environmental conditions. However, taxonomy yeasts remains largely unknown high- and low-latitude regions. Curing a field survey Svalbard Archipelago, Norway, new yeast genus Kriegeriales was isolated from dendritic lichens. Based on phylogeny multiple loci (ITS, LSU, SSU, rpb1, rpb2, tef1-α, cytb), morphology, physiological characteristics, Lichenia is proposed with type species Licheniasvalbardensis. Additionally, 10 °C 15 fastest growth temperatures L.svalbardensis. It has low or no at above 20 °C, there appears to be morphogenetic transition pseudohyphae hyphae °C.

ABSTRACT Biodiversity gaps in microorganisms, such as yeasts, blur our understanding of microbial diversity, introducing biases their biogeography, ecology, and taxonomy. The genus Carlosrosaea is a potential plant growth booster, yet it still little‐known yeast group. Considering that databases like GBIF GenBank are powerful tools for exploring biodiversity data, we aimed to map the geographic distribution, ecological patterns, taxonomic . We found 176 records genus, with about 70% associated material, mostly leaves. Furthermore, 55% pertained tropical region only 12% temperate. data indicates existence more than dozen possible new species cataloged undescribed. This study advances geographic, ecological, aspects It also highlights how public literature reviews provide accessible ways analyze information groups limited data.

Abstract Lichens represent one of the most successful examples symbiosis. They are constituted by association between a dominant fungus ( i.e. , mycobiont), or more photosynthetic partners (algae cyanobacteria), and harbor an array associated microorganisms, including bacteria fungi. The fungal communities in lichens, known as “lichen mycobiome”, composed both ascomycetes basidiomycetes, filamentous yeast taxa. Recently, basidiomycete yeasts have received considerable attention much-overlooked source diversity within lichen mycobiome, with hypothesized roles This study surveyed cultivable Peltigera lichens across southern Chile.
