Children's
evaluations
of
empathizers
were
examined
using
vignette‐based
tasks
(

7‐year‐old
U.S.
children,

girls,

2023

2024.
Children
typically
evaluated
positively
compared
less
empathic
others.
They
rated
responses
as
more
appropriate,
selected
nicer,
inferred
positive
relationships
the
targets
empathy.
However,
when
empathy
was
contrasted
with
helping
behavior,
or
directed
toward
an
immoral
actor,
negative.
Older
children
weighed
equally
shifted
their
considering
acts.
These
results
show
use
in
social
evaluations,
contextual
influences
on
these
strengthen
age.
