When and how do governments deliver public goods services in response to citizen preferences? We review the current literature on government responsiveness, with a focus service delivery developing countries. identify three types of actors that are commonly present these accounts: politicians, bureaucrats, citizens. Much this examines interactions between dyads actors. The study electoral accountability constituency emphasizes relationships citizens (or voters) politicians. Studies bureaucratic incentives political oversight bureaucrats emphasize politicians bureaucrats. Finally, studies embeddedness elaborate argue an emerging considers all provides rich theoretical empirical terrain for our understanding responsiveness low- middle-income countries beyond.
