The results we obtained earlier indicate the potential for corrective effects on negative consequences of social isolation functioning body through an enriched environment. aim present study was to investigate influence housing conditions rats – standard conditions, isolation, and environment activity hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axis, focusing HPA axis stress reactivity, pain sensitivity, rat behavior following exposure ulcerogenic stressor. experiments were conducted male Sprague-Dawley rats. Thirty-day-old rats, after being weaned from their mothers, placed in different four weeks: (SE), (SI), or (EE). After weeks, each group exposed stressor (US): 3 hours cold immobilization (10 °C). Starting day US exposure, one week, all groups sequentially assessed somatic sensitivity (in “hot plate” test), “open field” “elevated plus maze” tests), reactivity (based corticosterone levels response mild procedural stress). According results, SI our experimental setup led a faster increase weight with age, higher anxiety levels, depressive-like reactions half animals studied, increased painful stimuli. At same time, kept EE showed greater motor exploratory activity, lower anxiety, provide new evidence supporting previous conclusion that exerts maladaptive overall functional state rats' bodies, while EE, contrary, leads adaptive changes body. This highlights importance integrative approach when studying
