Eri silk worm is known to be reared indoor in different part of the world with diverse expectation silk, food and biomaterial. It possesses a very unique characteristics than other found India. The cocoon open mounted have discontinuous filaments as moth emerges from its own thus can spun only rather reeled. Before spinning into yarn, was treated alkaline solution made traditional formulation plant ash make solutions. solutions 10ml each used degummed sericin 400 but it's after effect on fibre yarn quality yet assess. Hence, pre post treatment eri before undertaken that plaintain black gram extracts more appropriate method degumming chemically sodium-bicarbonate.

In this study, a new eco-friendly degumming technique was developed for Eri cocoons without any chemicals. A newly eco-Eri process tried at 110 °C, 120 130 °C and 140 temperatures 10, 20 30 min with soft hard water. The novel method compared the existing of viz. Soap-soda along enzymatic method. After degumming, weight loss per cent, changes in fibre surface morphology concerning SEM imaging properties tensile strength elongation were studied. using water removed maximum sericin content (degumming 15.7%) from cocoon shells had optimum efficiency. method, degummed uniformly softened. soap soda resulted 14.5% whereas 13% (12% dosage). Enzymatic significantly reduced but no results found silk fibres observed soap-soda methods. images indicated optimal smoother until damage fibrillation occurred also An condition is better to other methods used presently industry.
