The role of ChatGPT and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) as predictors physics inquiry among upper-secondary students has yet to be widely explored. Therefore, this research aimed examine students' in (convenience quality (CQ), motivation engagement (ME), accuracy trust (AT)) HOTS inquiry. Data were collected from 334 Indonesia through online questionnaires analyzed with SPSS software using correlation multiple linear regression. results showed that CQ had the strongest HOTS, significant being response speed, concept linkage, explanation quality. ME dimension was also significantly correlated increased learn enjoyment learning key predictors. Lastly, AT where information it essential These findings indicate potential enhance inquiry-based by effectively supporting development HOTS. Abstract The paper aims to fulfil three main functions: (1) serve as an introduction for the physics education community functioning of large language models (LLMs), (2) present a series illustrative examples demonstrating how prompt-engineering techniques can impact LLMs performance on conceptual tasks and (3) discuss potential implications understanding prompt engineering teaching learning. We first summarise existing research popular LLM-based chatbot (ChatGPT) tasks. then give basic account work, illustrate essential features their functioning, strengths limitations. Equipped with this knowledge, we some challenges generating useful output ChatGPT-4 in context introductory physics, paying special attention questions problems. provide condensed overview relevant literature demonstrate through selected be employed improve ’s Qualitatively studying these provides additional insights into ChatGPT’s its utility problem-solving. Finally, consider from inform use learning physics.

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a sustainable development skill that involves learners actively monitoring and adjusting their processes, which essential for lifelong learning. Learning feedback plays crucial role in SRL by aiding self-observation self-judgment. In this context, large language models (LLMs), with ability to use human continuously interact learners, not only provide personalized but also offer data-driven approach education. By leveraging real-time data, LLMs have the potential deliver more effective interactive enhances both individual experiences scalable, long-term educational strategies. Therefore, study utilized quasi-experimental design examine effects of LLM-based on learners’ SRL, aiming explore how application could support computer programming The findings indicate significantly improves providing tailored, motivation metacognitive Additionally, receiving demonstrated better academic performance, suggesting these can effectively However, acknowledges limitations, including short experimental period initial unfamiliarity LLM tools, may influenced results. Future research should focus refining integration, exploring impact different types, extending tools other contexts.

Large language models have made great advances in the past years, creating compelling responses to extended verbal inputs. After release of ChatGPT 3.5, researchers identified several opportunities and challenges large various fields education. However, at that point, it was unforeseeable how fast a multitude technological would erupt dynamically educational research change, undoubtedly facing increasing number related models. Now, can be used as middleware connecting AI tools other solve complex tasks. This led development so-called multimodal foundation models, such ChatGPT-4-Turbo Gemini, do not only interact via written text with user, but power process spoken text, music, images videos. These open up vast new territories come unexpected challenges. In this overview, we outline explain set education arise from for learners, teachers, developers additionally conventional

This article, drawing on essays written by students with the assistance of ChatGPT and interviews some who used this learning machine, highlights a shift in educational landscape brought about technology. In broader terms, Palestinian universities follow traditional methods teaching based memorization rote learning. These conventional strategies are stark contrast to manner which engage topics when utilizing ChatGPT. However, use has led noticeable declining participation classes, increased absences, diminished enthusiasm for examinations—a departure from value they previously placed them. patterns suggest that introduction is shaping paradigm education, leading us question reevaluate efficacy relevance today's digitized world importance different means evaluation rather than essay writing.

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly generative pre-trained transformer large language models, have significantly enhanced the capabilities of text-generative AI tools—a development that opens new avenues for human–AI collaboration across various domains. However, dynamics human interaction with AI-based chatbots, such as ChatGPT, remain largely unexplored. We observed and analyzed how people interact ChatGPT a collaborative writing setting to address this research gap. A total 135 participants took part exploratory lab study, which consisted engaging compose text discussing prohibition alcohol public relation given statement on risky consumption. During task, all screen activity was logged. In addition further insights user behavior experience were gained by applying questionnaires conducting an additional short interview randomly selected subset 18 participants. Our results reveal high satisfaction regarding quality aspects, mainly cognitive rather than affect-based trust ChatGPT’s responses, higher ratings perceived competence warmth. Compared other types prompts, mostly content-related prompts data, facts, information sent ChatGPT. Mixed-method analysis showed affinity technology integration current use positively associated frequency complete requests. Moreover, texts more copy–paste behavior.
