Many patients with cancer search for and use alternative complementary treatments, aiming to improve the effectiveness of their anticancer treatment a reduction in treatment-associated side effects. Short-term fasting (STF) mimicking diets (FMDs) are among most commonly used dietary interventions. In recent years, different trials have reported promising results interventions combination chemotherapy, terms slowing down tumor growth chemotherapy-related this narrative review, we identify describe current evidence about feasibility effects STF FMDs receiving chemotherapy. The studies that examined when combined chemotherapy suggest potential benefits regarding improved quality life. We also conclude list well-designed still recruiting patients, examining long-term STF.

Obesity and the associated metabolic syndrome is considered a pandemic whose prevalence steadily increasing in many countries worldwide. It complex, dynamic, multifactorial disorder that presages development of several metabolic, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative diseases, increases risk cancer. In patients with newly diagnosed cancer, obesity worsens prognosis, recurrence decreasing survival. The multiple negative effects on cancer outcomes are substantial, great clinical importance. Strategies for weight control have potential utility both prevention efforts enhancing outcomes. Presently, time-restricted eating (TRE) popular dietary intervention involves limiting consumption calories to specific window time without any proscribed caloric restriction or alteration composition. As such, TRE sustainable long-term behavioral modification, when compared other interventions, has shown health benefits animals humans. preliminary data regarding feeding growth animal models promising but studies humans lacking. Interestingly, short-term randomized trials favorable reduce factors; however, yet investigate reductions incidence general population. Few been conducted populations, number underway examine effect biology recurrence. Given simplicity, feasibility, improvements elicited by obese men women, may be useful survivors; implementation setting will require greater in-depth investigation.

Diet plays a critical role for patients across the cancer continuum. The World Cancer Research Fund International and American Society have published evidence supporting of nutrition in prevention. We conducted an analysis literature on dietary nutrients to uncover opportunities future research. objective bibliometric was describe trends peer-reviewed publications components highlight research gaps. PubMed queried manuscripts with diet- cancer-related keywords Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms. Metadata covering 99,784 from 6469 journals were analyzed identify since 1970 diet topics 19 tumor types. Publications focused largely breast, colorectal, liver cancer, fewer papers linking other cancers such as brain, gallbladder, or ovarian. With respect “unhealthy” diets, many high-fat diets alcohol consumption. largest numbers related “healthy” examined Mediterranean consumption fruits vegetables. These findings need additional under-investigated components, well studies during therapy post-therapy, which may help prolong survivorship.

Specific effects IF its mechanisms have not yet been assessed collectively. Thus, this systematic review aims to summarize compare clinical trials that explored immunomodulatory IF. Methods After screening, 28 studies were included in review. Results In addition weight loss, benefit health subjects strengthening their circadian rhythms, migrating cells, lower inflammatory factors, enriching microbials. anti-inflammatory effect macrophages, protection against oxidative stress with hormone secretion oxidative-related gene expression plays a key beneficial role for influence on obese subjects.
