Chronic liver diseases (CLDs), including fatty disease, fibrosis, and cirrhosis, pose significant global health challenges due to the limitedness of therapeutic options. Flavonoids, a class polyphenolic compounds mainly contained in natural sources foods Mediterranean diet, have emerged as potential candidates for protection their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-fibrotic properties. Baicalein, derived from Scutellaria baicalensis, exhibits hepatoprotective effects by attenuating oxidative stress, inhibiting fibrogenesis, modulating lipid metabolism. Galangin, flavonoid Alpinia officinarum, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, while isorhamnetin, methylated found various fruits herbs, been shown possess qualities, it reduces stress mitigates inflammation CLDs. This narrative review highlights preventive these three flavonoids, emphasizing role promising agents managing CLDs guiding future research.

Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by cholinergic dysfunction and oxidative stress, creating a need for the development of new therapeutic agents. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compounds, such as hainanolidol norwogonin, have shown potential neuroprotective activity. Objectives: This study investigates inhibitory action these compounds on cholinesterase enzymes their possible application in an AD-like rat model generated lead acetate (PbAc), well-known neurotoxicant that mimics AD-associated damage cognitive decline. Methods: The activity nine TCM was assessed vitro against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE), with donepezil tacrine controls. Hainanolidol identified most potent inhibitors, were further evaluated PbAc-induced AD to assess effects. Oxidative stress biomarkers malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), activity, silico molecular interactions analyzed, including docking studies, dynamics (MD) simulations, ADME-toxicity profiling. Results: norwogonin showed strong nanomolar-range inhibition both AChE BuChE, considerable IC50 values superior those standard inhibitors. In model, significantly reduced MDA levels increased GSH levels, indicating mitigation. level effective as, or more than, suppression achieved treatments, particularly regarding AChE, thus suggesting enhanced compared donepezil. Molecular MD simulations confirmed stable binding key catalytic residues reinforcing mechanisms. analysis demonstrated favorable pharmacokinetics safety profiles. Conclusions: concludes are worthy being regarded dual inhibitors antioxidant properties, which may serve alternative therapeutics AD. use PbAc underscores role environmental neurotoxins pathogenesis, offering insights into novel intervention strategies. Advanced preclinical clinical studies needed validation.

Depression manifests as a mental disorder characterized by low mood, suicidal tendencies, disturbances in sleep-wake cycles, psychomotor agitation, and pronounced feelings of hopelessness anhedonia. Baicalin, natural flavonoid compound, shows significant promise alleviating depressive symptoms animals. This study aims to assess the impact baicalin on experimental models depression.
