Purpose This study aimed to investigate the underlying factors driving onset of myopia, specifically role ciliary muscle’s contraction in elongation axial length eye. Methods The retrospective was conducted utilizing data from three ophthalmic centers Shanghai and Beijing. Both Chinese Caucasian children were involved. subjects’ eyes measured both relaxed contracted state muscle. A comprehensive mechanical model also developed observe influence muscle on length. Results included a sample 198 right myopic children. Of these, 97 male 101 female, 126 ethnicity 72 Caucasian. age for myopia ranged 5.9 16.9 years old. eye decreased 0.028 ± 0.007mm following dilation, indicating relaxation (t paired student = 15.16, p 6.72 x 10 −35 ). In contrast, resulted an increase Considering proportionality, significant 90.4% (179 eyes) exhibited reduced length, while minor 9.6% (19 demonstrated post-mydriasis. Finite element modeling that caused tension force transmits towards posterior pole eye, causing it extend posteriorly. Conclusion leads extension could potentially be initiating factor myopia.

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) spectacle lens for myopia control and its impact on vision-related quality life in Chinese children over a 1-year period. Methods: This randomized double-blind prospective controlled clinical trial enrolled 176 myopic subjects aged between seven 14 years who were randomly assigned into DIMS group or single-vision (SV) group. Refractive error axial length measurements at baseline, three-, six-, nine-, 12-month follow-up visits monitored. The Quality Life Impact Correction (QIRC) questionnaire was used to evaluate baseline 12 months postintervention. Results: Of initial cohort, total 151 successfully completed study (DIMS n = 72; SV 79). Baseline characteristics similar both groups. Average elongation progression after 1 year 0.17 (95% CI 0.13-0.20) mm -0.27 -0.36 -0.18) D 0.30 0.26-0.33) -0.55 -0.64 -0.47) mean differences 0.13 0.08-0.18 mm, p < 0.001) -0.28 -0.41 -0.15 D, two No significant difference QIRC score found groups (55.30 53.17-56.90) versus 54.20 51.99-56.41), p=0.854)). Purpose: This study aims to explore the impact of wearing peripheral defocus spectacle lenses (PDSL) on cylindrical refractive error (CYL) in myopic children. Methods: included 1057 children and divided participants into three groups: HAL group (spectacle lens with highly aspherical lenslets), MPV based manipulating vision), a control (without myopia interventions). The analyzed effect PDSL changes spherical equivalent refraction, CYL, corneal astigmatism (CA). mediating between errors (SPH) CYL was also investigated. Results: Compared (0.05 ± 0.33 D), annual progression faster (−0.15 D, P < 0.001) (−0.09 0.27 = 0.019). More had an ≥0.50 D (HAL: 23.6%, Control: 16.2%, 0.012). CA were consistent within groups 0.677, MPV: 0.683). total primarily due direct induction from indirect through SPH effect. Conclusions: application could cause increase children, which mainly be contributed cornea change. Translational Relevance: may passively affect anterior ocular biomechanics during control, leading astigmatism.

We studied which retinal area controls short-term axial eye shortening when human subjects were exposed to + 3.0D monocular defocus. A custom-built infrared tracker recorded the point of fixation while watched a movie at 2 m distance. The software accessed each individual frame in real-time and covered points with uniform grey patch. Four patches programmed: (1) foveal patch (0–3 degrees), (2) annular (3–9 deg), (3) deg) combined an (6–9 (4) full-field where only 6–10 deg Axial was elicited similarly positive defocus patch, indicating that fovea made minor contribution (-11 ± 12 μm vs. -14 17 μm, respectively, n.s.).
