Despite the considerable disease burden due to trauma injury, sufficient effort has not been made for assessment of nationwide care status in Korea. We explored feasibility a diagnosis code-based injury severity measuring method light its real-world usage. used datasets from National Emergency Department Information System calculate survival risk ratios (SRRs) and Korean Trauma Data Bank predict models, respectively. The target cohort was split into training validation using stratified random sampling an 8:2 ratio. established six major mortality prediction models depending on included parameters: 1) Injury Severity Score (TRISS) (age, sex, original Revised [RTS], [ISS]), 2) extended International Classification Diseases-based (ICISS) 1 RTS, ICISS international SRRs), 3) 2 SRRs based 4-digit codes), 4) 3 full-digit 5) 4 modified 6) 5 codes). estimated model fitted it datasets. measured area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) discriminative ability. Overall performance also evaluated Brier score. observed though their slightly lower than TRISS (training cohort, AUC 0.936-0.938 vs. 0.949). Regarding SRR calculation methods, we did find statistically significant differences. alternative use Alert, Voice, Pain, Unresponsive Scale instead Glasgow Coma RTS degrade performance. availability practical expect our contribute strengthening Care by utilizing classification.

Diagnosing the current health status and disease burden in a population is crucial for public interventions. The ability to compare of different diseases through single measure, such as disability-adjusted life years has become feasible continues be produced updated Global Burden Diseases (GBD) study. However, values GBD study do not accurately reflect unique situation specific country with various circumstances. In response, Korean National Disease (KNBD) was conducted estimate Koreans by considering Korea’s cultural context utilizing available data sources at national level. Both studies identified non-communicable diseases, diabetes mellitus (DM), primary cause among Koreans. extent interventions currently being central local governments does align severity burden. This review suggests that despite high DM South Korea, policies may fully address its impact, underscoring need expanded chronic management programs shift towards prevention-focused healthcare paradigms.

Importance Health care spending in South Korea (hereafter Korea) nearly doubled from 2010 to 2019. However, little is known about the drivers and effectiveness of these increases terms changes disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs). Objectives To evaluate factors contributing health DALYs estimate value 2019 Korea. Design, Setting, Participants This cross-sectional study population used data National Insurance Service for spending, Global Burden Disease DALYs. Changes were decomposed into several factors, including size, aging, per-person measures or Data analyses performed April 2023 June 2024. Main Outcomes Measures was calculated as total expenditure on medical long-term care, gains measured averted. The estimated ratio per person person. Results Total increased $55.0 billion $92.0 Increases accounted 52.9% increase, followed by aging size (35.6% 11.4%). 11.4 million 12.2 million. Population 269.4% growth (64.0%). decreased (−233.4%), reflecting a lower capita burden given country’s age structure. Assuming 50% 80% improvements could be attributed DALY averted $20 678 $12 924, respectively. slightly larger when excluding not directly impacted ($23 687). Published: Jan. 1, 2025

Abstract Objectives This study aimed to examine the regional impact of COVID-19 on severe trauma patients in South Korea. Methods utilized Community-based Severe Trauma Survey data from Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. The average treatment effect (ATE) by region was determined using doubly robust estimation (DR). Subgroup analysis conducted for greater Seoul area, metropolitan cities rural areas, areas. Results Significant differences were observed general characteristics participants before after outbreak, particularly mechanisms injury types hospitals which they transported. DR revealed that probability death among higher areas than other regions. Conclusions is attributed their population density inability emergency medical systems manage spread COVID-19. Therefore, future national policies related care should focus enhancing capacity managing infectious diseases large-scale cities.

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a common symptom that imposes significant socioeconomic burden. Appropriate exercises enhance the recovery of anatomical structures using biomechanical methods and improve lumbar stability are recommended for patients with LBP. Therefore, clinicians should prescribe appropriate to alleviate LBP, function, prevent recurrence.Current Concepts: Individualized structured multimodal (strengthening, aerobic, core exercises, stretching) under supervision healthcare professionals It preferable focus on isometric trunk muscle strengthening, strengthening large muscles (back gluteal muscles) attached thoracolumbar fascia rather than involve repeated extension flexion muscles. aerobic recommended, stretching focusing movements preferred. also important educate regarding etiology harmful postures maintain lordosis in daily life.Discussion Conclusion: An exercise prescription can contribute better clinical outcomes Although prevention recurrence, inappropriate potentially exacerbate LBP; therefore, careful consideration required.
