Fuel and oil spills during the exploration, refining, distribution of petrochemicals are primarily responsible for accumulation organic pollutants in environment. The reduction contamination caused by hydrocarbons, heavy metals, oily effluents, particulate matter generated industrial activities efficient recovery at great depths an environmentally friendly way pose a challenge, as cleaning processes require direct application surface-active agents, detergents, degreasers, or solvents, often generating other environmental problems due to toxicity these substances. Thus, natural agents is attractive solution. Due their amphipathic structures, microbial surfactants solubilize through formation small aggregates (micelles) that disperse water, with numerous applications petroleum industry. Biosurfactants have proven usefulness solubilizing trapped rock, which prerequisite enhanced (EOR). also important biotechnological anti-corrosion processes, preventing incrustations biofilms on metallic surfaces, used formulations emulsifiers/demulsifiers, facilitate transport pipelines, innovative use can reduce generation from synthetic detergents chemical solvents without sacrificing economic gains Therefore, investments essential. It predicted that, not-too-distant future, will become viable standpoint dominate world market. biosurfactants settings would lead growth sustainability. main goal this paper provide overview diverse remediation, biotechnology, industry scientific literature review.

To overcome this several strategies can be employed. This review centered on recent technological advancements biosurfactant research. The advancement(s) include use metabolomic and sequence based omics approaches that has become a high-throughput indispensable tool for identification producers. A plethora microorganisms synthesize biosurfactants, along with other value-added products namely ethanol, microbial lipids, polyhydroxyalkanoates been reported. significantly improve economics overall process limitations further dealt by employing metabolic engineering approaches. Tailoring strategy enables modification composition congeners produced improves yield biosurfactant. Bio-based surfactants have shown promising results against combating pollution terrestrial aquatic ecosystems either increasing their bioavailability or aqueous solubility. Owing to ever-increasing market biosurfactant(s), summarized technologically feasible research may enable researchers develop more safer reliable technologies.

The present study aimed to produce a biosurfactant from Candida yeast cultivated in low-cost medium made of sugar-cane molasses (5%), frying oil waste and corn steep liquor (5%). Initially, the production at flask-scale was investigated then scaled up bioreactors 1.2, 3.0, 50 L simulate real scale. products obtained an excellent reduction surface tensions 70 29 mN·m-1 flask-scale, comparable 33 1.2-L reactor, 31 3-L 30 50-L reactor. Regarding yield, it observed that isolation by liquid-to-liquid extraction aided 221.9 g·L-1 with critical micellar concentration 0.5%. isolated did not exhibit inhibitory effect on germination vegetable seeds presented no significant acute toxicity assays Artemia salina Allium cepa. Among different formulations mayonnaise-like sauces, most stable formula addition 0.5% greatest results were associated guar carboxymethyl cellulose gums. Thus, C. bombicola represents promising alternative as food additive emulsions.

Biosurfactants have attracted considerable attention because of their lower toxicity, biocompatibility, and effectiveness over chemical surfactants. The use renewable sources the concept sustainable production for such biomolecules supports increased demand eco-friendly products. Herein, present study investigated corncobs (CC) sunflower stalks (SS) as substitutes conventional substrates in submerged fermentation with B. subtilis. agro-industrial residues were submitted to an alkaline pretreatment obtain hydrolysates rich hemicelluloses, whose concentrations determined at 48.8% 65.7% corncob stalk liquors, respectively. influence different glucose (0, 2.5, 5%) liquor 20%, 40%) evaluated according cell concentration, surface tension reduction rate (STRR), emulsification index (EI24). obtained hemicellulose showed highest concentration (4.57 g/L) STRR (58.07%), whereas maximum values EI24 (56.90% hexane, 65.63% toluene, 64.86% kerosene) achieved by using liquor. All top results observed 2.5% glucose, 20% (CC or SS), 1% mineral salts. Notably, excess SS) negatively affected growth biosurfactant performance. indicated potential low-cost produce a high added-value promising tensoative emulsifying properties.
