Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a leading cause blindness in premature infants, is characterized by retinal vaso-obliteration during hyperoxia and pathological neovascularization (NV) relative hypoxia phase. Current treatments, which focus on the late stages neovascularization, are associated with numerous side effects. Studies demonstrated that discoidin domain receptor 2 (DDR2), collagen-binding tyrosine kinase, inhibits experimental choroidal participates tumor angiogenesis. However, role DDR2 ROP underlying mechanisms unclear. In this study, we initially found expressed mouse physiological vascular development significantly decreased phase followed increase oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) model. Early upregulation before attenuates vaso-obliteration, reduces promotes maturation. Additionally, increased number microglia around blood vessels induced anti-inflammatory M2 polarization. Furthermore, STAT6/TGF-β signaling pathway suppressed was activated after upregulation. conclusion, attenuated inhibited switching polarization from M1 to phenotype via OIR. This suggests could be novel target for early treatment ROP.

Limbal epithelial stem cells (LESCs) reside within a LSC niche (LSCN). We recently identified that hyaluronan (HA) is major constituent of the LSCN, and HA necessary for maintaining LESCs in "stem cell" state, both vitro vivo. Herein, we characterized LSCN to identify key components HA-specific LSCN.

Introduction Individuals experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19 are at the greatest risk developing post-COVID lung fibrosis, which significantly impacts long-term health outcomes. This study aims to investigate predictive potential serum biomarkers, specifically decorin and biglycan, in assessing severity mortality among patients. Methods For this study, healthy controls patients ( n = 240) them 186 with moderate 54 from Ittefaq Hospital Mayo Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan were recruited satisfying inclusion exclusion criteria. Patients followed up for 2 months. Serum level biglycan was evaluated by ELISA. One-way ANOVA Independent sample “ t ”-test applied significance p < 0.05 using GraphPad Prism. Results Decorin levels decreased (43.36 ± 1.14 ng/mL) (40.24 0.64 (35.49 1.00 0.0059). Biglycan increased (66.15 2.22 pg/mL) (70.02 1.57 (75.88 1.97 0.0042). In follow-up, survivors had higher (39.6 0.59 than non-survivors (35.84 1.61 0.0319). similar between (70.98 1.41 (73.99 3.24 0.459). Higher correlate survival Conclusion valuable biomarkers predicting Lower disease severity, emphasizing their identify fibrosis guide clinical management.
