Microalgae are a sustainable source of bioactive compounds and nutrients that do not compete with crops for arable land. Lobosphaera sp. was used to produce biodegradable films. Bioactive compounds, polysaccharides, proteins were extracted from this microalga. The total phenolic content (TPC) antioxidant activity (ABTS, DPPH, ORAC) the bioactive-rich extract determined, its composition analyzed phenolics using LC-ESI-QqTOF-HRMS lipids GC-FID. cytotoxicity on Caco-2 cells also assessed. Different types films produced based alginate (2%) (film A) polysaccharides-rich (PS-rich) (0.5%) B); PS-rich (0.25%) C); protein-rich (P-rich) D); P-rich E). physical parameters films, such as thickness, color, water vapor permeability, solubility, tensile strength (TS), elongation at break (EAB), determined. TPC 1.07 ± 0.05 mg GAE/100 DW, 2.44 0.27, 1.67 0.15, 11.90 1.22 µmol TE/100 DW ABTS, ORAC, respectively. showed no gut concentrations equal or below 1.0 mg/mL. Film E obtained best results activity, 451.06 14.68 212.81 39.12 µM TE/mg film ABTS In addition, enriched (films C E) presented antimicrobial against Listeria monocytogenes. These controlled mold yeast growth in strawberries during four-day storage 25 °C. All completely soluble hydroethanolic solutions but only partially solubilized acetic acid (3%). TS EAB significantly different among It possible microalga good bioactivity characteristics.
