Increasing risks from sea-level rise and other climate impacts call for a focus on physical coastal attributes, emphasising the need region-specific tools to address vulnerability of different coastlines. This paper presents development Physical Coastal Vulnerability Index (PCVI) change like rise, erosion, storm surges, which is applied Croatian coast Istrian Peninsula. The methodology provides detailed, site-specific assessment focusing parameters such as aspect, slope, elevation, type. Eight grid cell sizes were evaluated map coastline, demonstrating, expected, that smaller cells (5 × 5 m) captured more detailed variability in vulnerability. Among seven calculation methods, second root self-weighted arithmetic mean (M3) proved most effective, high-risk regions by prioritising critical variables. results show western vulnerable due its morphological properties, with nearly 50% highly emphasises importance using high-resolution grids avoid oversimplification recommends PCVI basis further socio-economic assessments. proposed offers framework can be adapted assess eastern Adriatic similar regions, particularly Mediterranean, enhancing relevance integrated zone management global mitigation strategies.

Climate change and land use are major drivers of environmental socioeconomic transformations in landscapes coastal areas. The objective this study was to present an interdisciplinary participatory research methodology for analysing the evolutionary process a case study, Trabocchi Coast Abruzzo Region (Italy), from multiple perspectives, including climate change, technological history, conservation protocols, social function. goal assess resilience these structures, i.e., their ability cope adapt changes while maintaining identity recognition. adopted approach combined qualitative quantitative data meteorological analyses, literature review, field investigations involving workshop, which significant portion analysed results presented here emerged. indicate that has undergone recent decades, posing serious threat cultural heritage due (sea-level rise, erosion, storms, flooding salinisation), mass tourism. However, have also challenges opportunities development, stimulating diverse resilient responses local communities, ranging resistance innovation. paper discusses factors may make model considering changes. This is supported by role institutions as guarantors value trabocchi specific landscape context, evidenced approval “Costa dei Special Territorial Project” 2023.

An analysis of the pressure factors that influence sustainable tourism in Tremiti Islands (TI) has been performed. Tourist's fluxes have investigated terms monthly arrival and presences showing a high value territorial exploitation index with number arrivals, particularly August, low occupancy rate. Effects climatic change analyzed TI reference to increase average air sea temperature islands. Some measures contrast climate favour discussed also. The CO2 emissions by ferries transport, solid waste wastewater treatment calculated. Environmental taxation for aimed tat content reduction is also assessed identifying 1.47 €/capita on basis tourist arrivals considering environmental cost removal should be well accepted if funds are destined purposes.
