Purpose Student engagement evaluation is considered to be connected many aspects of the management higher education, but outside Western research and on student experiences has been limited so far. Our study focuses underexplored Palestinian education with aim gaining an actionable understanding from overall situation enhance development local teaching learning practices. Design/methodology/approach A quantitatively oriented, sequential mixed-methods design was adopted. With applied validated measurement we collected 946 questionnaire responses university students. Quantitative data were analysed using structural equation modelling, K-means cluster analysis chi-squared tests. Inductive deductive thematic employed for open answers. Findings three dimensions, allowed different profile groups distinguished: strongly, moderately loosely engaged. In subsequent statistical qualitative analyses, these clusters differ in degree which they had a clear vision future profession or their academic studies. Moreover, brought up shared concerns regarding theoretically oriented studies uncertain professional career prospects context. Originality/value This one first attempts develop tools education. The findings are particularly significant developing micro- meso-level practices institutions.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the devastating effects of ongoing conflict in Gaza on its education system, a phenomenon termed “Educide”.
